Warren Buffet has indirect exposure to cryptocurrencies

Dubbed as the father of investing by the world, Buffet’s aversion to Bitcoin seems rather amusing. Nu Holdings offers a range of financial solutions including Nu Crypto for investors across Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and a few more.

  • Buffet’s investment in Nu Holdings is a sign that his calculated risk in the investment has paid off.
  • Nu Crypto offered by Nu Bank has been instrumental in the growth of the Nu Holdings stock.

Is Warren repeating history with crypto?

A little known fact about Buffet is that he believes in admitting about investing mistakes or a missed bus. In an interview, Buffet said that he did feel that he undermined the value of tech stocks and didn’t invest because he wasn’t aware of its potential.

The tenacious investor that he is, Buffet called Bitcoin as ‘Rat Poison’ and is also known to be a critic when it comes to crypto.

His illustrious take on Bitcoin –

“If you told me you own all of the Bitcoin in the world and you offered it to me for $25, I wouldn’t take it because what would I do with it? I’d have to sell it back to you one way or another. It isn’t going to do anything,”

Nu Holdings investment has paid off. Hathaway’s portfolio shows that Warren’s $500 million investment in 2021 and later another huge chunk ~ $250 million has pushed Nu’s value by 50% in 2024.
